Hello everyone,
While I’m making good progress on the next version of Medschool, Love & Friends, I wanted to give you a proper update on the current state of School, Love & Friends 3D.
For those who missed the previous news, School, Love & Friends 3D is an improved 3D version of SLF. Most of the familiar characters will return, but in a much more polished, modern, and expanded story.
The game mixes adventure and visual novel elements. You can freely move around the world, interact with objects and characters in different ways, and experience story scenes with HD visual novel-style images.
Here is what is already implemented in the game so far.
World and exploration
There are currently three main areas available:
- The house and its neighborhood
- The school
- The city center
You can travel between these locations by bus.
Time progresses manually, either by 30 minutes or 1 hour depending on the action. This means you can explore at your own pace without feeling stressed by time passing too quickly.
I’ve also created a minimap that shows, in real time, where the characters and points of interest are.
Characters
The family characters are already functional: Alice, Mimi, and Maria.
The school characters are also implemented, with 35 characters in total, including 25 girls. Most of them will eventually have romance-related content across future updates. Some characters will already be in relationships, while others may start romances with other characters, often with the player’s help.
The teachers and the junior class are not implemented yet.
Romance routes will unlock gradually as the story progresses, so the player won’t be overwhelmed by too many quests at once.
Story and quests
The introduction is fully playable and works as a tutorial to explain how the game systems work.
I’ve started the beginning of the two main questlines: one focused on the family, and another focused on the school.
The school storyline will involve secrets to discover.
The first week of classes is already done, including several afternoon activities.
I also completed Alice’s homework quest, which includes different branches depending on the player’s choices.
Emily’s quest has also started. She will be one of the first romanceable characters.
Gameplay systems
Some activities will unlock bonuses or improve skills.
Skills will be useful as they progress. For example, after reaching level 3 in Athletics, you will be able to run faster.
Skill progression will not require grinding. I have a strict anti-grind policy for this game.
I’ve also implemented locked doors. Some doors can be peeked through, and later on, you’ll be able to pick locks once you learn how to do it. But be careful not to do it when someone is nearby.
Observation Mode
Observation Mode has been implemented and is unlocked after the first psychology class.
This mode lets you switch to an HD image view of characters, allowing you to enjoy them in more detail.
Later on, a bonus can unlock an app that lets you see through clothes while using Observation Mode.
There is also a variant of Observation Mode where you have to search for clues directly within the image.
Interface and polish
I’ve been working on the HUD to make it feel nicer and more dynamic.
The game already has several visual and interface improvements that should make the experience smoother and more pleasant to play.
Testing
That’s everything I can think of for now.
I’ll keep you updated whenever there is major progress. Once the game is playable enough, I will select 5 volunteers to test it and give me detailed feedback about what works, what doesn’t, performance issues, possible improvements, and anything else that could help make the game better.
Thank you all for your support!
